eCommerce Marketing

Store marketing is mostly plumbing. A product feed with the right identifiers. A purchase event that fires once, with the correct value. An email that goes out an hour after a basket is abandoned and stops when the order is placed. When the plumbing is wrong, the budget is spent on guesses.

We set up and run the technical side of marketing for shops: feeds, shopping campaigns, automated email and the analysis of what visitors type into your search box. We cannot promise sales, and we say so before you pay for anything.

Four areas

Where we work

Each area can be taken alone. They share the same product data, so they work better together.

Product feeds

The file that tells shopping platforms what you sell. Titles, prices, availability, barcodes, images and categories, generated from the store and refreshed on a schedule.

Shopping ads

Campaigns built on the feed, grouped by margin or product type so that budget can be steered towards lines worth advertising.

Email flows

Automated messages triggered by what a customer does: joining the list, leaving a basket, placing a first order, going quiet.

On-site search data

The words visitors type into your own search box. It is the most direct statement of demand you will ever receive, and most shops never read it.

Feeds

Why products get disapproved

A rejected product cannot be advertised. These are the causes we correct most.

  1. Price mismatch

The feed says one price and the product page another, often because of tax display or a sale that ended.

  2. Missing identifiers

No barcode or manufacturer part number on branded goods, or a made-up value in its place.

  3. Stock out of date

The feed refreshes once a day while stock changes every hour.

  4. Image problems

Watermarks, promotional text over the picture, or a file too small to display.

  5. Variant confusion

Sizes and colours submitted as unrelated products, or without the group identifier that ties them together.

  6. Shipping and returns

Delivery cost or returns policy absent from the merchant account or not matching the site.

Method

How an engagement runs

Measurement comes before spending. Otherwise nobody can tell what the money did.

  1. Check the tracking

We place test orders and confirm that purchase events, values and consent settings are recorded correctly in your analytics and ad accounts.

  2. Repair the data

Feed errors cleared, product titles rewritten to say what the item is, email sender records set for your domain.

  3. Start small

Campaigns and flows begin with a modest budget that you set. Changes to it need your approval.

  4. Report plainly

Each month you receive spend, orders attributed, and what we changed. The report includes what did not work.

Email and search

Flows and findings

Two sources of orders that need no advertising budget, only attention.

Welcome series

A short sequence for new subscribers that explains what you sell and how delivery works.

Abandoned basket

A reminder sent only to people who agreed to be contacted, with the items shown and a link back to the basket.

After purchase

Care instructions, a review request once the goods have arrived, and a prompt to reorder for consumables.

Searches with no result

Terms that return nothing show products you lack or names you do not use. Synonyms fix the second kind the same day.

Searches that end the visit

Queries where people see results and leave point to ranking or pricing problems.

Deliverability

SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, list hygiene and unsubscribe handling, so that messages reach the inbox.

Straight talk

What we can and cannot do

We can

  • Make sure every eligible product is approved and advertised.
  • Show you which lines are advertised at a loss.
  • Build email flows that run without daily effort.
  • Give you figures you can check against your own order records.

We cannot

  • Promise a level of sales, traffic or return on ad spend.
  • Make an uncompetitive price or a long delivery time sell.
  • Control how ad platforms change their auctions and rules.
  • Send email to people who have not consented to receive it.
Questions

Marketing questions

Why will you not forecast a return?

Because it depends on your prices, margins, competitors and the ad auction on the day. Anyone who names a figure in advance is guessing.

Who owns the ad account and the data?

You do. If an account does not exist we create it in your name. When the engagement ends you remove our access and keep everything.

How is the work priced?

Per engagement, after we have seen the store and the accounts. Advertising spend is separate and goes from you to the platform.

Do you write the emails?

We build the flows and draft the messages. You approve every message before it is switched on.

What about privacy law?

We set up consent and unsubscribe handling to the requirements your legal adviser specifies. We do not give legal advice.
