eCommerce Development
A store is a chain of small decisions about money. Which price a trade customer sees. What happens to stock when two people buy the last item in the same second. Who pays the postage on a return. The design gets the attention, but these rules decide whether the shop makes a profit.
We build the working parts of an online store: the product catalogue, the basket and checkout, payment collection, tax calculation, shipping rules and the order screens your staff use every day. The platform is chosen after we understand your products, not before.

The five parts of a store build
Each part has its own rules and its own ways of going wrong. We scope them separately so nothing is assumed.
Catalogue
Products, variants, attributes and categories, modelled on how you really sell. A shirt in four sizes and three colours is twelve stock lines, each with its own code, price and quantity. We agree that structure before any import.
Checkout
Basket, guest and account purchase, address capture, discount codes and order confirmation. Every extra field costs completed orders, so we ask what each one is for.
Payments
Card payments through a payment provider using hosted fields or a redirect, so card numbers do not pass through your server. Wallets, bank transfer and cash on delivery are added where your customers expect them.
Tax
VAT, GST or sales tax set up to the rules your accountant gives us: inclusive or exclusive prices, rates by product type, rates by destination, and invoices that show the right numbers.
Shipping
Rates by weight, size, zone or order value, carrier label printing, tracking numbers sent to the customer, and a returns route that your warehouse can follow.
Rules that are easy to miss
These rarely appear in a brief. They always appear in the first month of trading.
Overselling
Stock must be reserved at the right moment. Reserve too early and abandoned baskets hide goods from buyers. Reserve too late and you sell what you do not have.
Paid but no order
A customer pays, closes the browser, and the shop never hears back. Payment confirmation has to arrive by webhook from the provider, not only by the return page.
Partial refunds
One item of three comes back. The refund, the tax on it, the stock level and the accounting export all need to agree.
Rounding
Tax rounded per line and tax rounded per order differ by pennies. Your accounts package uses one method, and the store must use the same one.
Customer groups
Trade, retail and staff prices on the same product, with minimum quantities and payment on account for approved buyers.
Order emails
Confirmation, dispatch and refund messages sent from your own domain with correct sender records, so they do not land in spam.
From price list to first order
The order of work is fixed for a reason: data first, money second, appearance alongside.
Discovery
We read your price list, stock export and current order process. You receive a written scope, a catalogue structure and a cost range.
Catalogue and data
A sample of real products is loaded first. Problems with codes, images and missing weights show up here, while they are cheap to fix.
Checkout and money
Payment, tax and shipping are connected in the provider's test mode. You review a working store every two weeks.
Test orders
Before launch we place orders for each payment method, tax case and shipping zone, then refund them, and compare the results with what your accountant expects.
Launch and hand-over
The store goes live in a quiet trading period. You receive the code, the admin guide and the logins to every account.

Asked before most builds
Do you handle card data?
No. Card details are entered into fields served by the payment provider. We build to the security requirements your provider and your adviser specify. Any PCI DSS assessment is carried out by you and your assessor, not by us.
Can you connect the store to our accounts or stock system?
Usually, if the system has an API or a reliable file export. We check this during discovery and tell you if the connection is not practical.
How long until we can take orders?
That depends on catalogue size, integrations and how clean the product data is. We give a range after discovery and do not quote a date before it.
Who decides the tax settings?
Your accountant or tax adviser. We configure and test what they specify. We do not give tax advice.
What if we already have a half-built store?
We review it first and report what can be kept. Sometimes finishing it is sensible, sometimes it is not, and we will say which.
Send us your price list
A product export, a note of how orders reach you today, and the countries you ship to are enough to start. We reply within one business day.
