How senior should your React Native developer be
A good indicator is what the person does when the red error screen mentions a Java or Objective-C class. Some stop there; others open the native project.
Junior
Builds screens and forms in TypeScript, connects them to existing hooks and API calls, writes component tests. Relies on others for anything in the android or ios folders.

Mid-level

React Native: frequent questions
Expo or bare React Native?
Expo for most new projects. It is the route the React Native team itself recommends, and development builds with config plugins now cover custom native code. We stay with a bare project when one already exists and works.
Can you fix a bug without a new store release?
For JavaScript and asset changes, yes, through an over-the-air update service such as EAS Update. Changes to native code still require a store build, and updates must stay within what the store rules allow.
Our app is on an old version. Upgrade or rewrite?
Usually upgrade. We read the dependency list, estimate the steps and tell you which libraries block the way. A rewrite is only worth discussing when most native dependencies are dead.
Do your React Native developers write native code?
Senior engineers do, in Kotlin and Swift. It is the difference between waiting for a library author to fix something and fixing it in a patch the same week.
How do working hours line up with ours?
